When you are anxious about something, does the feeling hang around for a while? Does it then start to affect other areas of your life? It can be frustrating to feel like things are happening to you instead of you consciously creating events of your choosing, events that are aligned with your personal values and actually support you.
I know. I’ve been there too.
This is why I meditate daily. My meditation serves multiple purposes. One of them is to centre my awareness within my body, to be in control of my thoughts which I know influence my emotions, and therefore, my actions. It also offers a certain level of protection from things that steal my time and energy.
One thing that can help with this part of meditation is grounding. In meditation, grounding and earthing can mean or lead to the same thing. Grounding is basically, visualising your consciousness travelling through your root chakra, reaching out and firmly connecting with Mother Earth which can give you a sense of safety and nourishment. Scientific studies have proven that neurons within the brain interpret visualisations the same as real-life events, stimulating the same hormone production as if it’s actually happening. Earthing is similar and you can actually have your bare feet on the ground, i.e. in the park or beach, so you are physically connecting with earth.
I have been in a few meditation circles and noticed that grounding is not routinely practiced which is unfortunate, as it’s very effective in calming the mind, dissolving unnecessary mental chatter, balancing the emotions and bringing awareness into the physical plane.
At my workshop on Sunday 30th of October, we will practice grounding as part of our chakra meditation. Just one of the tools you will take away with you to help you stay centred and in control of your thoughts!
Reserve your place at the workshop – there are only two places left as of today 21 October.
