Celebrate International Day of Yoga with us!
Yoga is celebrated world-wide on 21st of June, annually, to raise awareness of its many health benefits.
Last year, a few us in Bath, UK, practiced sun salutations in the lush grounds of Sydney Gardens. We will continue to meet here every year and you are warmly invited to join us at the next one! Links are below.
About Yoga Day
Every year, yoga enthusiasts around the world practice 108 sun salutations and chant 108 mantras as part of the celebrations. The Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, personally gets involved in the celebrations. He said: “Yoga is an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition. Yoga embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action … a holistic approach that is valuable to our health and our well-being. Yoga is not just about exercise; it is a way to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature.”
The United Nations co-ordinates the international celebrations at its headquarters in New York, USA. It also sets the theme every year. In 2025, the theme was “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” which echoes a vital truth that personal wellness and planetary health are inseparably linked.

Celebrations in Bath
This year, we will celebrate Yoga Day on Saturday 20th June (as I’m not available on Sunday 21st).
Our yoga session at Sydney Gardens is suitable for complete beginners and will go ahead as planned, as long as the sun is shining. If it rains that day, it will be moved to a different day and I will update you on the new date. For this reason, I would recommend that you book your place (so I can contact you directly), but you are also welcome to keep an eye on updates on this page and turn up on the day. Note that bookings also help me assess how many people to expect.
This class is intended to be free of charge, but I know some people prefer to pay. So please do whatever you feel like. You can also pay with one of your credits, if you are a regular at my Tuesday or Thursday classes – simply log into your Momence subscription. Alternatively, use promo code YOGADAY for a free spot.
Please bring your own yoga mat (essential), and if you have a yoga block and strap, bring these as well. Wear stretchy clothing and it’s always a good idea to have a bottle of water with you. It’s important to stay hydrated.
Look out for an A Board sign when you arrive (see photo on this page and link to map provided below). I am looking forward to spending a lovely yoga day with you in a beautiful natural environment!
