You are warmly invited to a small group 1-hour Values & Purpose online workshop which is especially designed for women.
We will discuss the importance of having clear values and purpose and do fun and helpful exercises to clarify and reaffirm them.
Here is what Lynne said about this workshop:
“This online workshop was very well organised, resources were shared in advance for me to think about my personal goals. I found the session really helpful and enjoyable. Sossi helped me to work out some key priorities and I came away feeling very positive and focused.” April 2023
Why should I be interested in Values & Purpose Workshop?
First, let’s define values and life purpose.
What are values?
They are:
– ideals that give meaning and purpose to your life. Some examples are love, trust, fairness, honesty, integrity and belongingness.
– central to your feelings of happiness, satisfaction and fulfilment
– closely connected with your sense of self as they drive your behaviour
– the glue connecting you with others and your community
Values often exist deep within your subconscious mind, but with some reflection, through conversation, or by using the right tools, you can bring them out to the conscious.
What will I benefit from having clear values?
Clarifying your values is a time well-spent because:
– you are more purposeful when you live in alignment with your values.
– they help you to balance your emotions, make better choices, develop healthy patterns of behaviour and maintain meaningful personal relationships. Values are like a compass – guiding your everyday choices and actions.
– with clear values, you become more fulfilled in life as you can explain why you do the things you do and feel the way you feel
Harnessing your values strengthens your sense of knowing where you are going and take responsibility for your actions. Also, when you develop your values and stop seeking external affirmation, you’ll find that the question of “What is my purpose in life?” is much easier to answer.
What is life purpose?
The answer to this age-old question is subjective. There isn’t one specific, right or wrong answer. However, the points made below could help you redefine what it means to you.
The purpose of life is:
– to continue to live, adapt, learn and grow, in other words, to continue to evolve. And to do this, you would need to listen to your innermost wants and needs, and be flexible
– to create meaningful connections with others while also improving your health and happiness
– to positively impact on the lives of others, which in return, gives you more life purpose
– to achieve important goals, especially purpose-driven goals. (N.B. achieving goals may not help you find the purpose of life, but knowing your purpose can certainly help you achieve your goals)
Of course, you would have your own ideas about life purpose and what yours is. I hope the above perspectives help you articulate them with more clarity.
What will I benefit from defining my life purpose?
With a clear purpose,
– you feel good about the way you are living your life because you can explain and back up your thoughts, feelings and actions
– you feel connected with the world around you as you are contributing to it in some important way
– you are likely to live longer! Yes, research shows that finding your purpose is linked to better health and a longer lifespan. (This analysis came out of a survey of nearly 7,000 older adults on the relationship between mortality and finding your purpose.)
– you’ll feel passionate, driven and laser-focused. You’ll stop battling with the past and the future and start living in the present – and that’s truly the greatest gift you can give to yourself!
What will I be doing at the workshop?
You will:
1. identify your core values and explore them using creativity, such as automatic writing
2. build on the above to define your life purpose
3. use your findings to set short, medium and long term goals
4. commit to your first action towards your goal
What should I bring to the workshop?
1. find a few minutes to do a pre-workshop exercise about your values
2. (if you have a printer) print the worksheets in advance, or, have with you a notebook or blank paper and pen
3. come with an open mind – one of the hardest parts in this journey is letting go of old interests that no longer serve you
You can book your place here. Places are limited to 6. Advance booking advised.
